About
Welcome to the vibrant world of Bard Coffee, a gem nestled in the heart of Portland, Maine. With its prime location at 185 Middle St, this bustling coffee shop is a must-visit for coffee enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. Bard Coffee seamlessly blends a trendy atmosphere with an inviting menu, making it a beloved spot for locals and tourists.
One of the standout features of Bard Coffee is its commitment to quality. The café offers a diverse range of coffees, including the tantalizing Ethiopia Natural Sidamo Oromia, a fair trade organic medium roast that beckons with its rich flavor profile, priced at just $14.90. For those who prefer a sweeter experience, the Bard 2.2 medium roast at $12.90 delivers syrupy notes that dance on your palate. And don’t miss out on the Costa Rica Las Palomas light-medium roast, showcasing the craftsmanship of farmer Jorge Monge from Finca Las Palomas.
The ambiance captures a perfect blend of a traditional coffee house and a trendy modern café, making it an ideal hangout spot. Visitors often describe Bard as having a cozy, energetic vibe, filled with the laughter of families and the concentrated hum of hard-working individuals. The stunning latte art and handcrafted syrups elevate each drink, adding a touch of artistry to your caffeine fix. Customers like Keira V. have gushed about their experience, declaring Bard “one of the best coffees” they’ve ever had, especially with its housemade syrups and adorable mug presentation.
However, be prepared for busy times – its popularity means it can be quite packed. But as Caleb M. noted, that’s a testament to its charm! Whether it’s a specialty drink like the French Toast Latte or a classic oat milk latte that's smooth and nutty, there’s something for everyone. The staff often receive kudos for their friendliness, further enhancing the welcoming atmosphere that Bard Coffee consistently delivers.
If you find yourself wandering the beautiful streets of Portland, make sure to stop by Bard Coffee. With its delightful offerings and lively setting, it promises to warm your heart and invigorate your senses. Come for the coffee, stay for the community!
“ One of the many coffee options you have when exploring/visiting Portland and personally while not my all time favorite a spot worth checking out! One aspect of Bard Coffee I view as a huge positive and at the same time a negative is their location. It's a great central location for anyone walking around Portland which is nice but also means it's almost always busy. I have always gotten it to go so never fully enjoyed their atmosphere but it's the typical trendy coffee spot vibe. You'll typical find any number of people working on their laptops and what not. Despite being here a handful of times with the first being during the crazy days of Covid I had not written a review. This weekend in celebration of Maine Maple Sunday they had some specials running. Including a French Toast Latte that was the motivation for my wife and I to stop after finishing our brunch. Which it did not disappoint one bit and nailed the flavor perfectly. I thought I had a couple spots who made tasty French toast flavored coffees but this would win by miles in comparison! I have always been happy with brews I have gotten here and need to swing in more often because of that. Definitely a must try for coffee lovers in the area! ”
“ Super cute and trendy coffee shop! The inside was adorable! I got an iced oatmilk latte and my mom got a hot oatmilk latte. The espresso was nutty and the oatmilk was super creamy. One of the best coffees I have ever had. Their syrups are all housemade and they put your "for here" coffees in mugs with pretty latte art. Definitely worth a stop. ”
“ Yum! Nice and smooth! I ordered a latte with oat milk and it was perfect. Service was fine, nothing special. The place was pretty big for a coffee spot, plenty of space indoors and out- only one bathroom though. The whole time I was there, a line was formed for the bathroom. ”
“ Even though Bard isn't my go-to coffee spot, it's a very close second. Its location is unbeatable, has an airy and light interior with plenty of seating (although it is always jam-packed so you'll be lucky to find a spot to sit), a great menu, and friendly staff. Order inside at their counter or outdoors at their to-go window (which was such a gem during crazier COVID times). I'm a sucker for their iced chai, hot chocolate, and any number of their desserts or bars. Live, love, laugh, Bard! ”
“ Miss walking through downtown Portland. Love the people and the great coffee shops like Bard. Easy to find and plenty of seating. Plus just next to a park area so go outside and enjoy the views. Great coffee s f awesome treats. Plus the staff is so darn friendly. Street parking is available and a parking garage around the corner if you want to take time and take a stroll and visit all the great shops nearby. ”
“ I liked it so much that I went twice in one day. With housemade syrups (maple, cocoa, vanilla, caramel, and honey), expert latte art, a banging soundtrack, and a staff with camaraderie, I spent a perfectly pleasant Sunday lounging about and enjoying drinks. There's bar-height seating, counter-height seating, and tables. The espresso profiles are textbook: long on the finish and not bitter. If you want a true coffee place in Portland, this is the one. ”
